Amergin is an Irish traditional music group based in Kenmare, a small picturesque seaside town with a mountain backdrop in the southern part of County Kerry, Ireland. The band came together from playing at the many sessions of traditional music in Crowleys bar in Kenmare, a venue renowned as a mecca for traditional musicians from all over the world. The Group Amergin takes its name from the legendary Milesian prince, poet and hero who landed on the shores of Kenmare Bay during the early Bronze Age -circa 2000 B.C. The band plays polkas, slides, hornpipes and reels - all lively dance music, together with haunting airs and soulful songs. This music draws from a rich tradition for which the South West region of the country is renowned and which has been played for generations in the homes amongst the hills and valleys.
